Year

A six-figure catalogue, stuck on Magento.

DreamHardware is a US retailer of legacy and hard-to-find computer hardware, with a catalogue close to 100,000 products, 97,965 at the point of migration. We started in 2021 maintaining their Magento store, then proposed a move to WooCommerce for better performance, easier integrations, and lower maintenance. The migration could not force customers to reset passwords or cost search rankings, and a catalogue that size needed tooling to stay clean.

Migration

Move off Magento without password resets or lost rankings

Scale

Nearly 100,000 products, fast to browse and manage

Marketplaces

Auto-list on Walmart, eBay, and Amazon

Clean data

Cut the manual work of cleaning data and images

A migration off Magento, with tooling that keeps it clean.

The store runs on WooCommerce and Sage, with one-click checkout across Stripe, PayPal, Converge, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Klarna, and live FedEx and UPS rates. Products flow out to Walmart, eBay, and Amazon automatically, with eBay categories mapping themselves. Performance comes from LiteSpeed and Cloudflare on a Digital Ocean VPS. Behind the store sits a set of Python services that keep a six-figure catalogue honest.

From Magento maintenance to a self-cleaning store: migrate, clean, scale.

01.

Stabilise and plan

We stabilised Magento first, fixing core bugs and customising plugins, then planned the move to WooCommerce on Sage.

02.

Migration

A transparent password bridge reads existing Magento hashes, SHA256, Argon2id, and MD5, so customers log in without resetting. The WooCommerce store runs on Sage with automated feeds to Walmart, eBay, and Amazon, eBay category auto-mapping, and Action Scheduler tuned for roughly 100,000 products.

03.

Data tooling

Python services keep the catalogue clean: image sync from the supplier FTP with resumable, state-tracked runs, Gemini metadata enrichment at over 90% reliability, BK-tree perceptual-hash duplicate detection that runs in minutes rather than hours, and orphaned-image cleanup across seven WordPress tables.

04.

Launch and beyond

We tested exports, checkout, and every payment gateway, then deployed on a Digital Ocean VPS with LiteSpeed and Cloudflare. What began as Magento maintenance is now a multi-year build, with the tooling layer keeping the catalogue manageable as it grows.

The numbers speak.

Zero

Customer password resets on migration

Customers kept their logins through the move, the catalogue lists itself across three marketplaces, and the tooling layer does the data cleaning a six-figure catalogue would otherwise demand by hand.

Move a huge catalogue without the headache

We migrated nearly 100,000 products to WooCommerce for DreamHardware, with tooling that keeps the catalogue clean. If a big migration is holding you back, we have done bigger.
