How to Make Your Employees use the Software you Create

People are generally averse to change, especially if it affects their routine. One of the most challenging tasks for a manager in the business world is successfully implementing new internal software in the company.

Employees usually have difficulty picking it up and making it a part of their daily lives. Today I’m giving you tips to increase the adoption of your new expensive software that you hope will increase productivity.

There is a common trait all humans share, and it’s affecting your business. Familiarity is the silent killer that stops your employees from changing their work routines. I speak from experience when I say convincing employees that novelty is better and that change is generally good is a tedious job.

Rest assured that failing to implement the software isn’t directly your fault. People like stability and comfort in their lives and will be highly likely to maintain the status quo. Regardless of the domain, people will want to keep their lives exactly as they are accustomed to, be it daily routines, family activities, or work.

Imagine I move every single light switch in your house just a bit lower. They would still be comfortable, and your interior designer swears by the new placement. For the first few weeks, you will feel frustrated every time you reach for the light switch that isn’t there.

Many of the gestures we do every day at work are automatic. No matter how creative we might be, there are moments when our mind takes a break, and we run on autopilot. We don’t focus whenever we switch on the light, lock our doors, or turn off our PCs. We are deeply fond of the tiny breaks we take throughout the day, and we tend to build more as time goes by without anything changing in our routine. The most valuable advertising for a company comes from its employees endorsing the actual product. No ad or sponsorship will speak as loudly as your employees recommend the product to their colleagues. Encourage them to try out your product and incorporate it into their routines. Use their experience as testimonials inside the company.

Create the habit of asking for and implementing feedback

The more your employees use your product, the more familiar it becomes. You and your employees have a chance to understand the software’s value better and make room for additional improvements. This loop will help your business grow stronger with every cycle.

Hunting bugs is part of the natural process of implementing new software. Perfectionists love to participate in the process. After all, they are not being forced to adopt new software. If you can motivate them to search for bugs, you shoot an entire flock of birds with one shot.
